Stapleton Airport Scarf

In 1950 three United States airlines formed to create Denver based Frontier Airlines which was then headquartered at the Stapleton Airport. This Stapleton scarf design was created using historic photographs provided by the History Colorado archives.

The black and white photos were taken at Frontier’s home base in Stapleton in the very beginning of the major carriers creation. You will notice the photographs are recolored in a collage to recreate a vintage water color from the 1960’s of the Stapleton Air Control Tower which is all that remains of the former airport.

Frontier airlines continues to have a huge presence in Denver and will forever be a major part of Stapleton's rich history of aviation!

This design is a part of a partnership with Go Play Denver and History Colorado.
