Our custom milled bow tie and necktie fabric is specially designed to have the ideal weight, feel, appearance and texture while being made from recycled post consumer plastics. Trust us, this is no basic shiny 1970's polyester, nor is it a high-priced woven silk tie that is easy to damage, or a cotton tie that wrinkles constantly or is stiff from printing. We've built our woven recycled twill to have minimal sheen so that it looks silk-like but is decisively modern. It's weight and quality interlining give an optimal weight so that it isn't flimsy or cheap feeling. The woven structure on the bias ensures the bow tie will wear evenly through repeated tying and untying and you can even lightly iron in the rare event you needed to, which you can't do to silk without potentially ruining it.

Self-tie bow ties offer a more organic feel because everyone ties a bit differently and every time you tie a bow its shape is slightly imperfect. If that's the look you want and you are committed to learning how to tie or already know how to, go with the character of self-tie.

Pre-tied bow ties are made to look the same as our self-tie bows but are tied and then tacked in place. This way it never accidentally comes untied. This option is great for teams, groomsmen and kiddos, where not everyone knows how to tie a bow tie. Also, for specific logo or custom design placements, the pre-tied bow tie is helpful in ensuring the design elements are exactly where you want them without having to figure out which way to tie. So if you worry about tying or are giving to a group, you may want to consider pre-tied over self-tie.

Both styles have a hook to latch the strap to itself under your collar. Because of this, you can leave both styles tied and just unclip to keep ready for wear. To best preserve the fabric over time, we recommend untying the self-tie bow tie between wears, but totally up to you what works best for you.

Our bow ties come in different sizes, both in terms of bow and straps. The bows are adjusted to be more size appropriate for babies, kids and adults. The adult bow is what we consider a mid-size bow butterfly style - it's not overly skinny or oversized and is a good size bow tie for men and women wearing classic and modern shirts and collars. The pre-tied version offers more adjustability since it isn’t fixed by a knot. Because of that, extra-long lengths are only offered in the self-tie option, but in practice, both provide a similar fit range. The adult straps have adjustable buckles to allow for a large variance in sizing. The pre-tied version has even more range than the self-tie version because it isn't tied so extra-long length is only offered on the self-tie bowtie but is effectively the same for both.
