What is the difference between "customized" and "custom"?
What is the difference between "customized" and "custom"?
Customized items are items in our online shop that have a "Customize Colors" button which allows you to apply your own color palette to a pattern.
Custom designs are created by submitting a custom design request and working one on one with our design team to create truly one of a kind look from the assets you provide or ideas you describe.
Can you match a specific color?
Can you match a specific color?
Yes, we can match to hundreds of colors. We can match to most coated and uncoated Pantones and we offer a ColorMatch Chart printed with over 500 colors to ensure the color you choose is exactly what you want.
For designs without Pantones or without color selections made using our ColorMatch Chart, we highly recommend verifying your colors prior to placing your final order. For color verification, we offer printed swatches or full custom samples.
Please note: Colors appear differently on screen based on individual settings and cannot be verified accurately on-screen or with images.

File Formats
For logo files, we prefer vectored formats such as .AI, .SVG, .EPS or .PDF. We also accept high resolution images that are at least 300 dpi in .JPEG, .TIFF, or .PNG formats at the desired size for print.
Outline Format for Text
When sharing a design file, it is important that all text be put into outline format. Outline format converts text into a shape, so that any person you send the file to can open and use the file even if the computer they are using does not have that exact font file in its library.
Here is how how to create outlines in Adobe Illustrator:
1) Select (highlight) the text in your document.
2) From the Menu, go to Type > Create Outlines.
3) Save and send file!
Upload Artwork
When completing your custom design request, there will be an opportunity to upload several photos or files to your designer. If you have any additional assets, we can receive them via email.
Intellectual Property
Knotty Tie Co. respects the intellectual and creative properties of other artists and will not print any content that is owned without expressed written permission allowing us to do so from the copyright or trademark holder. This includes (and is not limited to) fictional characters, company or sports team logos, school or university logos, and artwork not classified as public domain. For more, see Knotty Tie Co. Artwork Terms of Use
If you provide us with original artwork or visual assets, we respect your intellectual and artistic property and your assets will not be used for any other application without your permission.
When Knotty Tie creates original artwork for your custom design at your request, the artwork is owned by Knotty Tie and can be used for other applications.

While our products are completely customizable in pattern and color, we generally cannot accommodate custom shape, size, width, length or hardware requests. We are always open to suggestions however, so feel free to message us.

Unfortunately we cannot manufacture with any outside fabric due to the following complications: variation of thickness, quality, heat sensitivity, compatibility with our machinery, etc.
There is just too much risk involved in using outside materials when it comes to the proper functioning of our machinery and the flow of our manufacturing process. And we wouldn't want to damage your fabric, of course!
Instead, we may be able to replicate a similar design or pattern as a custom design to be printed on our fabrics instead.
Can you print metallic or neon colors?

Unfortunately metallic and neon colors are out of the range of our printable colors.
While we do not have any specialty inks for any metallic colors such as gold, silver, bronze, or rose gold, we can print similar hues on our semi-matte fabric, it just won't have a shiny or glittery finish.

As quickly as one week! For orders of 50 items or less shipping to the USA, we can offer delivery in as few as 7 calendar days from purchase for a rush fee. See our entire shipping & turnaround chart below for more information and limitations.

Yes! We ship internationally with UPS Worldwide Expedited service. Please see our Canada & International turnarounds below for more information.
Due to potential slow downs through customs, we cannot guarantee a specific delivery date for international orders.
We encourage you to order as soon as possible and keep an eye on your tracking information for any required actions to prevent shipping delays.
Knotty Tie Co. is not responsible for any taxes, tariffs, duties, brokerage fees, or other charges that may arise during shipping. These charges are outside of our control, determined by your local governance, and we cannot predict them.

If your order hasn’t been shipped yet, you can contact our support team to update your shipping address.
Once the order is shipped, we’re unable to make changes. You may be able to request a delivery address change with the shipping carrier, but fees may apply.

We pride ourselves on providing on-time production and offer expedites that guarantee on-time delivery.
However, unexpected circumstances that cause delays may rarely occur.
If there are unforeseen manufacturing delays, our customer service team will do their best to proactively reach out to inform you of adjusted delivery dates.
Orders made on our standard turnarounds do not come with a guaranteed delivery date and as such we cannot ensure delivery by a specific date.
Orders made on one of expedited turnarounds come with a guaranteed delivery date. In very rare instances where delays are caused by unusually severe weather, or other causes beyond reasonable control, those delays will not be counted in determining the time it took to deliver.
Knotty Tie Co. does not issue full refunds or accept returns on orders delivered after their delivery date. We may provide a partial refund covering some or all of the shipping and expedite fee on a case-by-case basis.

Differences between screen appearance and printed products
We want you to love how your custom products come out! So if your designs feature unverified colors, low contrast colors, low resolution artwork, or fine lines, please note there is a chance the designs will not print visibly, legibly or clearly and may not meet your expectations. Images on screen may look different to how they actually print. While we do our best to warn customers of any potential issues, it is not possible to know how something will print until it is actually printed. We recommend verifying the color and print quality of your designs by ordering a printed test swatch before placing a full product order.
Please note that the thread color used on pocket squares and scarves may vary from image on screen to final printed product.
Here are some helpful tips to ensure your design prints as you expect...
- Order swatches prior to placing your final order
- Purchase our ColorMatch Chart to verify the colors applied to your design will print as you intend
- Request a design revision to update the colors in your design to have more contrast
- Request a design revision to increase the scale of the pattern to be larger for better printing results
- Provide us with a higher resolution or vector artwork/logo file
As part of our Terms of Service, we do not offer refunds or exchanges for products that do not meet your print quality or color expectations.

We start processing all orders shortly after payment has been made and cannot add to, change or cancel orders once they have started production. Contact us as soon as possible if you would like to make changes to your order.
If your order has not started production, we will be able to cancel, change or add to your order.
If your order has already started production, we can help you place a separate order for any additional products. Add-ons typically ship separately from initial orders unless placed within very close sequence.

Returns & exchanges
Because all products are custom-made to the specifications you choose, we do not accept returns or exchanges for any reasons other than manufacturing defects.
We highly recommend confirming details like color and fabric prior to ordering by purchasing a ColorMatch Chart, requesting swatches or ordering sample products.
We always stand by our commitment to excellent product quality and if there are any manufacturing defects on your products we'll quickly remake and send replacements.

While rare, sometimes issues do occur, so if there are manufacturing defects, errors, or quality issues with the items you have received, please contact us with photos of the issue and we'll do our best to make things right as quickly as possible.

Fabric

Care
All neckties are dry clean only. We recommend dry cleaners that don't use "perc" (perchloroethylene) solvents. Do not steam clean or saturate with water. Small spots may be gently dabbed with gentle soap. If required, use iron with a light touch on a synthetic setting without steam. High temperatures may result in color transfer or melting.

Fabric
We print all our bow ties on a semi-matte polyester twill fabric made from recycled plastic bottles that we have milled specifically for our products. Our recycled poly twill fabric has the soft sheen and feel of semi-matte silk.
Our adult bow ties feature a metal clasp that allows you to put on and take off the bow tie without retying the bow. Our kids bow ties have an adjustable velcro closure for ease and safety.
Care
All bow ties are dry clean only. We recommend dry cleaners that don't use "perc" (perchloroethylene) solvents. Small spots may be gently dabbed with soapy water. Do not saturate the bow tie with water. If required, use an iron with a light touch on a synthetic setting only. Higher temperatures may result in color transfer or melting.

Fabric
We print all our pocket squares on a recycled twill fabric made from plastic bottles that we have milled specifically for our products. We print our pocket squares on a single side and finish the edges with a fine purl edge. The back side of the pocket square will be unprinted.
Care
All pocket squares are dry clean only. We recommend dry cleaners that don't use "perc" (perchloroethylene) solvents. Small spots may be gently dabbed with soapy water. If required, use an iron with a light touch on a synthetic setting only. Higher temperatures may result in color transfer or melting.
Suspender straps are 1-inch wide.
To find your size, measure the length in inches from the front of your waistband, up over the shoulder, and down to the back waistband. Estimated to fit the age/height ranges below, but measuring length is recommended.

Fabric & Hardware
We print all our suspenders on a high quality twill fabric made from recycled plastic bottles that we have milled specifically for our products. Our recycled poly twill fabric has the softly textured sheen of semi-matte silk.
Printed fabric straps are 1-inch wide and secured to an elastic rear strap with vegan leather Y-back to allow the suspenders to move with you and extend as you bend. We use silver alligator pant clips that feature a special mechanism to ensure the suspenders clamp securely to pants.
Care
All suspenders are dry clean only. We recommend dry cleaners that don't use "perc" (perchloroethylene) solvents. Small spots may be gently dabbed with soapy water. If required, use an iron with a light touch on a synthetic setting only. Higher temperatures may result in color transfer or melting.

We use a lightweight and sheer recycled chiffon fabric. Chiffon scarves are printed on a single side, are finely finished thread wrapped edges, and have a silk-like feel and drape.

Lightweight neck gaiters are made from a moisture wicking, cotton-like polyester fabric that will keep you cool while staying protected from the sun, dust, and rain.
Insulated neck gaiters are made with REPREVE® fabric, a fleece-backed material made from recycled plastic bottles. They provide plenty of warmth for winter activities while still being breathable.

Lightweight neck gaiters are machine washable. Dry on high heat or sanitize.

When you choose a expedite at checkout, we guarantee delivery within the stated number of calendar days from ordering.
We highly recommend selecting an expedite if there is less than 10 days between our standard turnaround's estimated ship date and your deadline to receive the order.
We can only offer expedites with guaranteed delivery dates to orders shipping within the USA. In very rare instances where delays are caused by unusually severe weather, or other causes beyond reasonable control, those delays will not be counted in determining the time it took to deliver.
Expedite rush fee percentages are based on product total.
