In the 1910s, a group of paleontologists founded the Save the Redwoods League to prevent logging from destroying California’s redwood groves and the ancient fossils linked to them. Thanks to their efforts, we can still camp beneath these massive trees at Redwood National and State Park. With wildlife from gray whales to elk and stunning views of rugged coastline, old growth forest, and serene prairies, Redwood is a living reminder of a more wild age.
